Bridgestone Logistics site in York County helps Linkstar cut costs.
Relocating its order fulfillment center to York County is paying off for Linkstar Corp. Costs are 50 percent lower than they were at the previous center at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, said Linkstar Corp. supply chain manager Matthew Benton.
Wexford, Allegheny County-based Linkstar markets seven health and beauty product lines online and ships thousands of orders daily via FedEx.
The company contracted with Atlanta-based Bridgestone Logistics after a nationwide search. The two firms jointly designed and set up the order fulfillment center at Bridgestone's site at 2800 Concord Road in Springettsbury Township. Bridgestone shipped nearly $1 million of Linkstar inventory from Dallas, Benton said, and the site began operations October 1.
Linkstar has 20,000 square feet and has the option to expand to as much as 73,000 square feet. The center employs three to five workers, more at peak periods.
Bridgestone opened operations at Concord Road in September 2008, northeast region manager James Sandoe said. The firm supplies additional workers to clients as needed through Kelly Services Inc., he said.
Workers have to assemble orders before shipping them, so a reliable work force was essential, Benton said. Click to read this article at the Central Penn Business Journal website.
