Logistics site in York County helps Linkstar cut costs. |
| Relocating
its order fulfillment center to York County is paying off for
Linkstar Corp. Costs
are 50 percent lower than they were at the previous center at
Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, said Linkstar Corp.
supply chain manager Matthew Benton. |
| Wexford,
Allegheny County-based Linkstar markets seven health and beauty
product lines online and ships thousands of orders daily via
FedEx. |
| The
company contracted with Atlanta-based Bridgestone Logistics
after a nationwide search. The two firms jointly designed and
set up the order fulfillment center at Bridgestone's site at
2800 Concord Road in Springettsbury Township. Bridgestone shipped
nearly $1 million of Linkstar inventory from Dallas, Benton
said, and the site began operations October 1. |
| Linkstar
has 20,000 square feet and has the option to expand to as much
as 73,000 square feet. The center employs three to five workers,
more at peak periods. |
| Bridgestone
opened operations at Concord Road in September 2008, northeast
region manager James Sandoe said. The firm supplies additional
workers to clients as needed through Kelly Services Inc., he
said. |
| Workers
have to assemble orders before shipping them, so a reliable
work force was essential, Benton said. Click to read this article
